Genairclean Technology:
The Power of Microbubbles

A revolutionary new approach to membrane cleaning.

What is Genairclean?

Genairclean is a unique membrane cleaning method which combines multiple chemical mechanisms with microbubble technology to improve cleaning efficiency:

  • Normal Osmosis – high osmotic pressure of the cleaning solution leads to transport of water from the permeate side of membranes, helping to lift deposits from the feed side.
  • Effervescence – turbulence & agitation of deposits.
  • Detergent, surfactant and chelants – interact with properties of foulants facilitating easier removal.

Genesol 704, Genesol 734 and Genesol 764 membrane cleaning chemicals combine micro-bubble-generating components with high osmotic pressure cleaning solution leading to improved foulant removal from RO and NF membranes.

The Genairclean system introduces air to the chemical cleaning solution via effervescent reagents. Microbubbles are stabilised by a unique surfactant which maintains the perfect bubble size. Microbubbles create shear forces and turbulence at the membrane surface, which mechanically disrupt foulants, aiding their removal. Microbubbles work in conjunction with chemical ingredients to create the optimum membrane cleaning solution. Harnessing the power of microbubbbles significantly shortens cleaning duration and frequency.

Microbubble membrane cleaners

Single foulants rarely occur on membranes, instead deposits normally exist as complex combinations of different types of foulant – organics, aluminosilicates, inorganic deposits such as iron and manganese and the most common of all – biofilm. Different foulants require different chemical solutions, we therefore used our knowledge of membrane fouling to design a range of chemical cleaners incorporating different physical and chemical technologies to target the key characteristics of typical membrane foulants.

Genesol 700 series

Genesol 703

Genesol 703 is a general-purpose cleaner for an extensive range of organic based foulants found in RO and NF Membrane systems. It’s particularly effective against aluminium silicate, which can be difficult to remove with conventional cleaners.

Genesol 704

Genesol 704 is a general-purpose cleaner for a wide range of organic based foulants found in RO and NF Membrane systems. It’s particularly effective against aluminium silicate, which can be difficult to remove with conventional cleaners. It is also effective against most micro-organisms such as bacteria, fungi and algae.

Genesol 734

Genesol 734 is a general-purpose cleaner for a wide range of organic based foulants found in RO and NF Membrane systems. It’s particularly effective against clay (aluminium silicate), which can be difficult to remove with conventional cleaners. UF and MF units can also benefit from speciality cleaning alongside chemically enhanced backwashes.

Genesol 764

Genesol 764 is a general-purpose cleaner for a wide range of organic based foulants found in RO and NF Membrane systems. This formulation contains a high performing environmentally friendly chelant replacing EDTA. It is particularly effective against clay (aluminium silicate), which can be difficult to remove with conventional cleaners, it is also effective in cleaning Ultra-Filtration & Micro-Filtration systems.
