Laboratory Services

Membrane autopsy

The Genesys Membrane Laboratories in Madrid, Spain, provide a range of services specifically designed to identify the causes of membrane failure in reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF) and ultrafiltration (UF) plants.

We can provide three levels of autopsy, depending on the nature of the problem and the level of detail you require:

Level 1 Deposit/foulant identification
Level 2 Deposit/foulant identification
Membrane characterisation - salt rejection and flux
Oxidation and integrity testing
Level 3 Deposit/foulant identification
Membrane characterisation - salt rejection and flux
Oxidation and integrity testing. Cleaning tests - identification of optimum cleaning chemical, dosage, contact time and pH for foulant removal

The Autopsy Process

Our facility is equipped with a wide range of analytical equipment. In addition to the membrane autopsy services outlined above, we can also carry out: microbiological analysis - counts, identification and biocide efficacy tests - on membrane surfaces RO/NF/UF/MF performance and pilot testing using test rigs membrane cleaning studies and pre-treatment optimisation studies.
