Distributors 'Bond' at hotel summit

The year has been dominated by conferences with Genesys showcasing its important research through a series of technical papers. In September we held our third distributor conference at the Deanwater Hotel, at Wilmslow, near Manchester, which was attended by 35 delegates from 20 countries.

A number of technical presentations were given including topics on waste water RO plant treatment, operating high silica RO plant, prevention of calcium sulphate scale, how to clean clay from membranes and how to set up and monitor effective flocculant dosage for pre-treatment. Hints and tips on how to get the most from the Membrane Master antiscaling software were particularly beneficial and the resulting questionnaire was won by Dr. Dhrubbo Bannerjee of India. A CD of all the technical presentations was produced for the delegates along with a sales-aid folder. The four-day conference at the former 16th century mill was not all work. Following a tour of the new Genesys factory and a membrane autopsy demonstration, the delegation retired to the local Egerton Arms for traditional English ale and food. This included steak and ale pie, fish and chips and that most English of dishes - a steaming hot curry.

The gala dinner was held at the Deanwater Hotel with a fantastic meal followed by traditional passing of a record eight bottles of port around the table. Speeches and prize-giving followed. Winner of biggest growth distributor was Jens Nahring from Germany and best new distributor went to Turkey with Didem Avcu (pictured) receiving the prize from sales director Ursula Annunziata and general manager Steve Chesters. The evening entertainment continued with a James Bond-themed Casino Royale night complete with roulette, blackjack and Texas holdum poker. Ted Darton was seen pestering wife Rosemary for additional funds after losing his shirt in the first five minutes at the poker table. The Genesys team looked resplendent in tuxedos and ball gowns although a bit the worse for wear when the picture, below, was taken.

The following morning each country presented on their territory and performance and a lively debate ensued. Many thanks to all who contributed and helped organise our most successful conference to date.
