International water competitor joins our team in Japan

During a recent such visit to our Japanese partner company, Mihama, our Sales & Marketing Manager, Matt Armstrong, met a new member of the team who has a rather unexpected background in water.
Mihama were looking for two key attributes in a new team member: a proven track record in a water-related industry and international travel experience. Daisuke Sato – known as Dai – ticked both these boxes, albeit in a slightly different way, as an international competitive sailor!
After graduating from college, Dai started work at a school for disabled children. However since the age of 16 he had always dreamt of competing in the Olympic Games, so at 25 he left his job to focus on competitive sailing. Ranked 2nd in the Laser Class in the Japanese National Sports Games, he has competed all over the world.
After years of dedication, Dai sadly just missed out on his dream to represent Japan in the London 2012 Olympics. However he could see potential in working for Mihama and they immediately spotted his natural sales and technical abilities. We’re sure he will be a great asset to the team and hope the next chapter of his life will be just as exciting and challenging.
