What Summer?
What summer? Seven UK water companies restricted water use in April to combat drought in southern and eastern England after two dry winters. But the restrictions were followed by record rainfall across England that month, and more rain in May, June and July. With widespread flood warnings in place the hosepipe ban is now being lifted in many regions.
So it was typical weather for the tennis at Wimbledon – thank goodness for the roof on the centre court! A recent trip to the races at Doncaster was great fun despite the deluge. Our newly promoted sales and marketing manager, Matt Armstrong, braved the rain to get a bet on.
We had a bit of excitement at our registered office on 10 July when the Olympic torch relay passed by on its way to meet the Queen at Windsor Castle.
The infrastructure for the games appears to be complete, including a desalination plant in London, which now won’t be needed, thanks to all the rain. A timely reminder of the dependence of our industry on nature!
